
As a Shareholder of Bales & Bales, P.A. Amy assists her clients with registration, licensing, financing and transfer of intellectual property rights and has represented businesses in intellectual property disputes before the TTAB. As a trademark attorney Amy assists her clients with the registration of state trademarks and federal trademarks before the USPTO. She implemented the Flat Fee Trademark Application Service because she believes that intellectual property is one of the largest assets of any business and every business should register its trademark. Amy’s clientele includes business owners, grammy award winning latin recording artists, authors, record companies, magazine companies and physician groups.
Before co-founding Bales & Bales, P.A., Amy was an associate at Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, LLP in Newark, New Jersey. She also clerked for the Honorable Edwin H. Stern, Presiding Judge of the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court. In addition, Amy interned at Sony Music, which gives her an insider’s understanding of the intricacies associated with entertainment law.
Amy earned her Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, where she was president of the Moot Court Board and editor of the Women’s Rights Law Reporter which was founded in 1970 by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and she is also a Medical Doctor, having earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This gives her firsthand knowledge about the special legal needs of physicians, particularly with regard to the business of running a medical practice and protecting against litigation.
Amy was the 2017-2018 president of Beaux Arts of the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami and has served on its Board of Directors since 2015.
